Art Submission for Age 9 - 13

Schools will have up to April 30th, 2025, to submit their winners by uploading a picture of the artwork and the accompanying Artist's Statement on the Submission Form.

Students’ original artwork submissions may use any of the following mediums:

Paint (watercolor, acrylic, oil)
Drawing (pencil, colored pencil, charcoal)
Collage
Printmaking (linocut, woodcut)
Mixed media (Clay, wood, metal)

Artwork Assessment criteria (See Artwork Competition Rubric)

Artworks will be assessed based on the following criteria: relevance to the theme of Imam Hussain (as); aesthetic value (composition, technical skills); creativity and originality; and adherence to Islamic art principles (no depiction of faces of revered figures, including the Prophets and Ahlul Bayt).

Artwork Guidelines

Originality: All artwork must be original and created solely by the student. All artwork must be original student work and should not replicate existing pieces by artists such as Hassan Rouholamin, Mahmoud Farshchian, or others. Non-original submissions will not be accepted. Any form of plagiarism or copying of existing artworks will result in disqualification.
Handmade Art: Artwork must be created by hand. No digital or computer-generated artwork will be accepted.
Size Limits: Minimum size - A4: 21 cm × 29.7 cm (8.27 in × 11.69 in), Maximum size - A2: 42 cm × 59.4 cm (16.54 in × 23.39 in)
Submission Limit: One artwork per student
Number of pictures allowed: Up to three photos of the artwork can be submitted from different angles (front and both sides).
Submission Format: The submission must be a photo format only (e.g., JPEG images, Not PDFs)

Deadline to submit the poetry is on or before April 30th, 2025.
A live poetry competition for the top 10 finalists will take place on May 27th, 2025.

Submission Checklist:

Poem is original, not previously published or awarded, and free from AI-generated content.
Poem aligns with the theme, is in English, and uses proper language (no offensive content or abbreviations).
Poem is Free Verse, at least 12 lines (excluding title), and no revisions will be accepted.
Poem must be submitted in both, a video recitation & a written format with a separate title page (name, grade, age, school) and no personal details on the poem.
Video is under 3 minutes (with a 10-second grace period); exceeding this will result in a 1-point deduction
